Happy Friday...6/20/2008

Another week has come to an end but boy did we have fun getting here!
Today on Carolina Country Cruzin' Matt and Dee talked about lots of things and just in case you didn't catch the show...
Matt started the morning off with sharing his story of hitting his own mailbox yesterday! He miss judged the distance and knocked it down and said he wasn't going to tell his wife about it! A call came in wanting money to keep quiet about it! We had a story about a lady finding a snake in her mailbox. A Londonderry, New Hampshire, woman got more than she bargained for when she opened her mailbox this week – a 3-foot-long snake. Police captured the snake Tuesday and took it a pet store, where employees identified it as a non-poisonous corn snake. The pet store figures it may have been a pet that was abandoned and may have made its way into the mailbox on its own. I finished it off with admitting when I was 16 my car was struck by lighting and I ran over one too! (I refrain from going into all the details)

Updated everyone that I do now have my SC Drivers License now!

I also did a little name dropping of the fine folks at CITI in Florence for listening! Mary, Michelle, Vicki and Julius Thanks again!

A 9-year-old Lorain, Ohio, boy and his 5-year-old sister are “very grounded” after they crashed their family’s minivan during a joyride, their mother said. Police said Hunter Lance drove a couple of miles in the minivan with his sister Jessica in tow before he swerved on a busy road, grazed a telephone pole and barreled into a fence. The children suffered minor injuries and had exited the vehicle by the time police arrived. Their mother said the children apparently took her keys out of her purse while she was sleeping. She did not know the children were gone until she was awakened by police at her door. She thinks the kids were headed to visit their father at work.

Want to be a part of letting the government know about your cost for gas you can go to the websites Matt talked about this morning at

A group that advocates separation of church and state filed a federal lawsuit yesterday to prevent South Carolina from becoming the first state to created “I Believe” license plates. The group says the government is endorsing Christianity by allowing the plates, which would include a cross superimposed on a stained glass window. The lawsuit was filed by Americans United for Separation of Church and State, based out of Washington. A bill allowing the plates flew through the Legislature with little discussion earlier this year. The Governor let it become law without his signature because the state already allows private groups to create license plates for any cause.

U.S. motorists are risking drug violence in Mexico to drive over the border and fill their tanks with cheap Mexican fuel. The gap between Mexico’s subsidized gas and record U.S. prices has made it well worth dodging a bullet or two to cross the border for gas. Some say they can save up to $100 a month by filling up every two weeks in Mexico. The extra demand is causing shortages at Mexico’s border gas stations, some of which are starting to ration fuel. Mexico’s gas prices are around $1.40 cheaper per gallon. A gallon of diesel in southern Arizona cost $4.64 this week, compared to around$2.25 just across the border. And I suggested the slogan for South Carolina be “Smiling Faces, Beautiful Places and cheap Gas” South Carolina is #1 in the US for cheap gas!
A 19-year-old man accidentally shot and killed himself Tuesday morning while he was attempting to rob a Grand Prairie, Texas home, authorities said. Cameron Sands, 19, of Fort Worth kicked in the door of the house and then shot himself in the stomach as he pulled a gun out of his pants to shoot the homeowner, Grand Prairie police said. The homeowner was not injured. After Sands shot himself, he dropped the gun and ran out of the home. Police found his body around 5:30 a-m. in the driveway of the home. Lieutenant John Brimmer says, "This is the first that I've heard of a robbery suspect killing himself as he is drawing a gun out of his waist band. The criminal evidence points to that. It certainly isn't common."

A Ferryville, Wisconsin, woman shot herself in the foot with a .22-caliber rifle while hunting for awoodchuck in her vegetable garden. Officials said 45-year-old Penny Gilman shot herself in the left foot with a bolt-action rifle while waiting for the woodchuck to show its face. Gilman was treated for her injury at a hospital and released. An initial investigation uncovered a problem with the rifle, which deputies confiscated.

He tells us, "We actually had some nudity in the movie that we had to cut back. The word [crap] was in there 70 times, so we took all those out." Beer for My Horses, which was co-written by Toby and comedian Rodney Carrington, is scheduled for an August 8th release.

Rapper Snoop Dogg has just released the video for his country-flavored song "My Medicine," featuring cameos by Julianne Hough, Willie Nelson and Brad Paisley (who plays guitar on the track). When Snoop asked Brad to be on the record, he jumped at the chance. He says, "He really has respect for country music. It was a great sounding thing, very authentic, very Johnny Cash sounding." Yesterday was a good news - bad news day in Rob Lowe's legal battle with his former nanny. The good news? Two of the 12 allegations that Jessica Gibson made against Lowe -- related to labor-code violations -- were tossed out. The bad news? Gibson's sexual harassment claims -- in which she accuses the Brothers and Sisters star of groping and exposing himself to her -- remain
