Domino’s Pizza named Silver Springs, Maryland, resident Dennis Tran the World’s Fastest Pizza Maker yesterday. Tran made three large pizzas in 46.4 seconds. That’s about three pizzas in just over 15 seconds each. Tran won $5,000, a trophy and the coveted title. What’s even more impressive is the fact that he won the 2006 title with a time of 55 seconds and the 2007 title with a time of 49.1 seconds. His 2008 time of 46.4 seconds sets a new world record.

A Jacksonville, Florida, bike store employee used his cell phone as a gun to stop a burglary suspect, and then sat on the man until help arrived. The Purcell’s Motorcycle and Marine World employee said he spotted Hector Ivan Arroyo-Medina attempting to drag a dirt bike through a hole that had been cut in the fence of the business early yesterday morning. The worker pointed his cell phone at the suspect and yelled, “Freeze, or I’ll shoot you.” He then ordered the suspect to lie on the ground in the middle of the road and sat on him until they were spotted by a Fire-Rescue vehicle. According to the police report, the firefighters took turns sitting on the suspect until police arrived.

Two Alton, Texas jail inmates whose attempted getaway through an air conditioning duct landed them to crash into the police chief's office were charged with escaping custody. One of the men hoisted his cellmate up to the ceiling, where he managed to open a vent and crawl inside just before 3 a-m Saturday. But the man didn't make it far, Alton Police Chief Baldemar Flores said. His weight caused the duct to collapse, dumping him eight feet into the chief's office. Police found the other man trying to reach the cell's vent moments later. The men -- Jesus Albert Suarez Chavez and Roman Orozco Martinez -- had been arrested earlier in the evening for burglarizing vehicles. City Manager Jorge Arcaute said he would consider several options such as tightening ceiling panels and separating inmates to make sure they stay locked up in the future.

Police in Muncie, Indiana, say a 7-year-old boy drove his grandmother’s car more than a mile to a shopping mall before another motorist blocked the car and took the keys. Police received several calls around 9 a.m. yesterday about a small child driving toward Muncie Mall. The boy was so small that some motorists couldn’t see anyone behind the wheel. Matthew Sands followed the Geo Tracker into the mall parking lot and pinned the boy in as he drove into some bushes and a tree. Sands said the boy backed the car into his vehicle before he was able to get the keys away from him. Child welfare workers were called to investigate. Police think the boy might have learned how to drive from a PlayStation game.
