It looks like the compilation C-D Now That's Country will debut in the number-one position on the country album chart this week, bumping Sugarland's Love on the Inside to number-two. Jimmy Wayne should also make a nice debut on the charts at number-three with his first C-D in five years -- Do You Believe Me Now,which bumps Taylor Swift's debut disc to number-four. The Lost Trailers also look to make a Top 5 debut with their new album Holler Back poised to snatch that final spot.

Willie Nelson's life has been filled with his favorite thing -- music -- but now the veteran performer is trying his hand at a new creative outlet -- writing.  He's teamed up with Mike Blakely to pen "A Tale Out of Luck," which hits stores Wednesday.  The book takes a bit of the real cowboy and a dash of the Hollywood cowboy to make a story that's filled with adventure.  Cowboys, rustlers, men on the right side of the law, saloon girls, and a few Indians cross paths, leading to an unpredictable end.

Billy Currington, who hasn’t released an album in three years, is back with “Little Bit Of Everything,” due out October 14th. Currington said his time on the road added to the length of his record-making hiatus. Billy penned half of the songs on the new album, including some new love songs. Currington is working on a new video for the single “Don’t.”

It's a match made in Hollywood Dwight Yoakam and Kris Kristofferson play bad guys in a western movie currently in production titled “The Last Rites Of Ransom Pride.” Dwight plays a killer minister while Kris has a role as an outlaw. Meanwhile, Yoakam and Kristofferson have other pictures ready for release by the end of the year. “Four Christmases,” which features Yoakam, Tim McGraw, Robert Duvall, Mary Steenburgen and Reese Witherspoon, hits theaters November 26th. “Powder Blue,” featuring Kristofferson in a criminal role with Jessica Biel, Patrick Swayze and Lisa Kudrow, comes out on New Year’s Eve.

Tiger Woods' knee surgery has kept him off the golf course, but it hasn't affected his after-hours performance. The golf great and his wife Elin are expecting their second child. They have a 15-month girl named Sam. On his website, Woods writes, "While my injury has disappointing and frustrating, it has allowed me to spend a lot of time watching Sam grow. I can't begin to tell you how rewarding it is being a dad and spending time with her and Elin." to number-two.

Jimmy Wayne should also make a nice debut on the charts at number-three with his first C-D in five years -- Do You Believe Me Now, which bumps Taylor Swift's debut disc to number-four. The Lost Trailers also look to make a Top 5 debut with their new album Holler Back poised to snatch that final spot.

Jerry Reed, best known for comedic songs such as "When You're Hot, You're Hot" and "She Got the Goldmine (I Got the Shaft)," as well as his role as "Snowman" in the Smokey and the Bandit movies, died yesterday at age 71. According to Nashville's Tennessean, Jerry suffered from emphysema and was in hospice care. He was an accomplished guitarist who played for Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and Porter Wagoner, among others. He also wrote songs for such artists as Elvis Presley, Waylon Jennings and Bobby Bare. When interviewer Frank Goodman asked which part of his multi-faceted career he liked the best, Jerry replied, "That's like trying to pick your favorite leg." Still, with all his accomplishments, many people only knew him through his work in the movies. He once told us, "There's people that come to my concerts today because of Smokey and the Banditand they had no idea I made records." Jerry will perhaps be best remembered for his light-hearted approach to life. "You get serious about yourself -- you're not going to be here very long in the first place, so shut up, lay back and enjoy your time here. And for God's sake, laugh." *He was also in the movie "Water Boy".

Superman’s Cleveland, Ohio, house needs some fixing up. An online auction began yesterday to raise money to renovate the inner-city house where the idea for the Superman character was conceived. Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster hatched the idea of Superman in 1933. Hattie and Jefferson Gray have owned the home for more than 20 years. They hope to raise at least $50,000 to fix the roof, replace siding and repaint the house. Among the items up for auction are a T-shirt signed by Siegel and a walk-on role on “Heroes.”

NASA is holding off on moving the space shuttle Atlantis to its Florida launch pad this week to ensure it is not threatened by Tropical Storm Hanna. While the shuttle could make the 3-mile trek to the launch pad as early as Thursday, it’s more likely to move on Saturday after Hanna has passed. NASA is targeting an October 8th launch for Atlantis and a crew of seven astronauts to pay one last service call on the Hubble Space Telescope.

An Iowa man's attempt to get out of a DUI arrest has landed him in more hot water.  According to the "Iowa City Press-Citizen," 25-year-old Mark Booth was pulled over for a traffic violation when cops became suspicious that he had been drinking.  After failing a Breathalyzer test, Booth was put in a police car.  Cops claim that during the ride, Booth offered the officer "free Jimmy John's sandwiches" in exchange for being released.  The cop refused, and now Booth faces DUI and bribery charges.

As Hurricane Gustav soaks several southern states and Hanna threatens the East Coast, hurricane forecaster say September is going to be a busy month for Atlantic storms. Besides Gustav and Hanna, Tropical Storms Ike and Josephine are gearing up. A forecasting team at Colorado State University said yesterday that the Atlantic basin is expected to see five named storms this month. Four of the five will become hurricanes, with two becoming major hurricanes. September is typically one of the most active months of the hurricane season, which officially begins on June 1st and ends

on November 30th

A Philadelphia man nicknamed “Humble Bob” stuffed himself with 11.5 pounds of a local specialty called chili-spaghetti in about 10 minutes to claim victory in an eating contest in Mason, Ohio. Bob Shoudt won $2,500 at the inaugural Skyline Chili Spaghetti eat-off Monday at Kings Island amusement park. “Humble Bob” is ranked No. 5 by the International Federation of Competitive Eating. A Florida man found out the hard way that hiding in a portable toilet can leave you a disgusting mess.  Authorities in Tampa say James Conroy tipped several portable toilets over at a construction site while trying to catch a man he thought had hidden in one after breaking into a truck.  They say Lorenzo Earl Knight broke into two vehicles at a mall and was chased by Conroy along with another man.  It turns out Knight was hiding in a toilet and was a total stinky mess when he was arrested.  He is charged with burglary and grand theft.

A woman in Hawaii is in trouble with the law after accusations she rammed her husband's car when she caught him with another woman.  Officials say the 29-year-old saw her husband driving with a female in the passenger seat and followed them.  However, they say he refused to pull over for her and that's when she got pretty aggressive about it.  She rammed into her husband's car at an intersection.  She was arrested a short time later and faces attempted murder charges.
