Thanks for listening to Wheelz 100.5! Matt and I would like to wish you and your family a fun and safe 4th of July weekend. Next week I'm Mattless but do keep it rolling with Wheelz 100.5!
Christie Brinkley's public divorce battle with fourth husband Peter Cook got off to a rollicking start in a Long Island, New York courtroom yesterday. Cook -- whose supermodel wife paid all the bills during their nearly 12-year marriage -- took the stand and admitted to, among other things, having sex with a teenager and then giving the teenager 300-thousand dollars to keep it quiet, spending about three-thousand dollars a month on Internet porn and happily masturbating on a webcam. The two are fighting for custody of their daughter Sailor and Christie's son Jack, who Cook adopted.
Tatum O'Neal pleaded guilty yesterday to disorderly conduct, after being busted trying to buy crack cocaine in New York City last month. The Oscar-winner -- who says the cops saved her from sliding back down the slippery slope to addiction -- will have to attend two half-day drug-treatment sessions and fork over 95 dollars by September 4th to have the case dismissed.
Morgan Freeman's marriage of 24 years may be gone, baby, gone -- after his wife allegedly caught him cheating with one of her close friends. The National Enquirer claims, "Freeman's wife Myrna, 67, is consulting a divorce attorney...and the 71-year-old Wanted star is devastated." The Oscar-winner's first marriage ended in divorce in 1979.
Bicycling's golden boy, Lance Armstrong, was Goldie's boy on Tuesday afternoon -- when girlfriend Kate Hudson took him to lunch with her mom, Goldie Hawn. Lance and his possible future mother-in-law were said to be getting along famously at the popular Santa Monica eatery The Ivy.
Madonna and Guy Ritchie tried to scuttle those divorce rumors the old-fashioned way earlier this week -- by stuffing their faces with Italian food. The Material Mom and her director hubby showed up hand-in-hand at a popular New York City Italian restaurant on Tuesday night, for a very public "we're-not-breaking-up" dinner. One fellow diner told People magazine they looked "like a normal couple that just wanted to have a nice dinner out... Not like they were looking for attention."
Jessica Simpson has finally won something -- she tops In Touch magazine's survey of the women with the best boobs in Hollywood. Tony Romo's girlfriend edged out Tyra Banks for the top honors, with Scarlett Johansson coming in third. Filling out the Top 10 -- Carmen Electra, Lindsay Lohan, Katherine Heigl, Audrina Partidge, Jennifer Aniston, Megan Fox and Beyonce Knowles.
Paparazzi in France awaiting the birth of those Brangelina twins are going to have to keep their return flights open. Despite Angelina Jolie's hunkering down in a maternity ward, her doctor yesterday said only that "the birth will happen in the weeks to come." Doctor Michael Sussmann actually held a press conference in Nice yesterday to discuss his celebrity client. He said, "Her hospitalization at this stage in her pregnancy is totally normal for a patient who had a Caesarean during her first pregnancy. She is very well and she is okay." The world -- not to mention Brad Pitt and the four other Jolie-Pitts -- waits.
James Keown has been found guilty of the slow, poisoning murder of his 31-year-old wife -- by spiking her Gatorade. A Middlesex Superior Court jury declared the former radio employee guilty of first-degree murder in Woburn, Massachusetts. Judge Sydney Hanlon sentenced Keown to life in prison without parole, the mandatory sentence. Keown, 34, spiked his wife's Gatorade with antifreeze while they lived in Waltham in 2004 slowly and painfully killing her. His wife slipped into a coma in September of 2004 and later died. Prosecutors said her husband murdered her for her 250-thousand-dollar life-insurance policy. Prosecutors said Keown used his laptop in the summer of 2004 sampling ways "to kill" a human with ethylene glycol, using the name of Kevin Spacey's Usual Suspects villain "Keyser Soze." His wife, a registered nurse, spent her last hours surfing the Internet for a miracle means "to live."
The world of competitive eating is preparing for the ultimate rematch. Six-time world champion hot-dog eater Takeru [[ tah-KAY-roo ]] "The Tsunami" Kobayashi faces off with current champ, Joey "JAWS" Chestnut tomorrow in New York City. Chestnut beat Kobayashi last year during Nathan's Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest. Kobayashi arrived at the contest with a jaw injury but still managed to be neck and neck with Chestnut until the very end of the contest. "The Tsunami" ate 63 dogs while "JAWS" downed 66 in just 12 minutes. The highly-anticipated even is expected to draw a large crowd, as New York police say almost 50-thousand people attended last year's contest. Other competitors slated for this year's event include Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas, Rich "The Locust" LeFevre, and Pat "Deep Dish" Bertoletti. The eating kicks off at noon, Eastern time at Nathan's Famous Restaurant in Coney Island.
Some Ohio residents are cleaning up a combination of sewage and salad dressing from their homes after a recent flood. According to "The Columbus Dispatch," at least ten residences were affected by what one homeowner called a, quote, "creamy-ranch-dressing-looking" substance. Victims are blaming the city's sewage system, which is connected to food maker T. Marzetti. However, a spokesperson for the Columbus Public Utilities Department noted that last week's intense rain would have flooded "any storm system in America." Officials believe the spill contains oil, milk and spices from Marzetti's facility. Marzetti makes salad dressings under the brand names Marzetti, Girard's and Cardini's.
Keith Urban's wife, actress Nicole Kidman, says seeing her baby for the first time was an emotional experience. She tells "Vogue" magazine that she cried when she saw their child for the first time on an ultrasound. She explains, quote, "I didn't think I'd get to experience that in my lifetime." Nicole adds, quote, "To feel life growing with you is something very, very special, and I'm going to embrace that completely." Urban and Kidman are expecting the arrival of their first child this month. Keith is playing close to home this week. He's set to perform on Kenny Chesney's "Poets & Pirates" stop at Nashville's LP Field on Saturday. Also on the bill are Gary Allan, Sammy Hagar, and LeAnn Rimes.
Darryl Worley is opening a second Worleybird Cafe. The singer says he plans to break ground later this year, and hold the grand opening in early 2009. While the café will offer the same home cooked recipes as his original Savannah, Tennessee location, it will carry a different theme. While the original restaurant is a showcase for Worley memorabilia, the second Worleybird Café will focus on the military and will honor the men and women who serve in the U.S. armed forces. It will also offer live music in an attached theater. Bird number two is being developed in Country Crossings in Houston City, Alabama.
Those fans that prefer to celebrate the Fourth in front of the television set can still see a good amount of country music tomorrow. Kenny Chesney will be on NBC's annual "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular," singing "Never Wanted Nothing More." He's a repeat performer for the special, having first appeared on the show in 2003. Jerry Lee Lewis will be in the nation's Capitol for the 28th annual celebration of "A Capitol Fourth," which will air on PBS. Rascal Flatts will join conductor Keith Lockhart and The Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra on the "Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular" on CBS. Lee Greenwood will perform on an "Entertainment Tonight" special from The National Museum of Patriotism. He'll sing "God Bless the U.S.A." surrounded by 30 Congressional Medal of Honor recipients. Lonestar will perform tonight in Warner Robins, Georgia for a show that will be taped and aired over the Armed Forces Network tomorrow.
Well Matt and I wish you a Happy and Safe 4th of July. Matt is on vacation all next week but I'll try my best to hold it together just for you!
