Police say a 48-year-old woman allegedly attacked her husband in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, with a knife and several tomatoes. Deputies said when they arrived at the home of Katherine Kranz and her husband Russell, they found the man hiding at a neighbor’s home. Russell told police his wife went berserk after he complained about a drink she made for him, lashing out with a knife and pummeling him with tomatoes. The woman claimed her husband hurt his head by falling off of a chair while intoxicated. Katherine Kranz was being held on $5,000 cash bail and is facing charges ranging from first-degree reckless endangerment to disorderly conduct.

Barry Brown dropped by with Debbie Suggs talking about the Wal-Mart Concert Series benefiting the Pee Dee Chapter of the American Red Cross. The show is happening this Saturday starting at 3pm. Tim McGraw, accompanied by wife Faith Hill, returns to his hometown of Rayville, Louisiana on September 13th for Swampstock 2008. The event, which began in 1994, is held every other year and this year includes an outdoor concert featuring Dierks Bentley, Jason Aldean, Halfway to Hazard, Catherine Raney, and Tim and Faith. Habitat for Humanity is also involved this year to refurbish the Rayville Recreation Center. Proceeds from ticket sales benefit Neighbor's Keeper Foundation's local efforts.

Patty Loveless is asking fans to go to her Web site (www.pattyloveless.com) and tell her what songs they want to hear her perform on her upcoming tour. Patty’s new album, “Sleepless Nights,” is slated for release on September 9th. Loveless is booked to play the Grand Ole Opry on September 6th.

Trace Adkins and .38 Special teamed up Tuesday night for the taping of a “CMT Crossroads” episode at the Factory in Franklin, Tennessee. The show will premiere on September 24th.

Jessica Simpson has signed on to appear in ads for a Dallas brewing company.According to the Associated Press, Jessica, who considers herself an entrepreneur says, "(I'm) always looking for ways to diversify my portfolio with good ideas and good people." She adds, "Yes, I work out and take care of myself, but I also like a cold beer once in a while." Stampede Light bills itself as a beer for active people.

Little Big Town’s Jimi Westbrook is no different than other people who pinch pennies. Westbrook admits he pockets the little free shampoo and lotion bottles hotels put out for guests. He says “it saves money,” adding that the bottles really come in handy when the band is on bigger tours and have to shower in arenas. Little Big Town has teamed up with Red Roof Inns to promote the hotel. The band is featured in posters and postcards. The band has also pre-recorded wake-up calls for guests. Phil Vassar is also taking part in the promo campaign.

Motherhood has changed drastically in the past 30 years. Today, American women are having fewer babies, and more women are choosing to be childless. A new report by the U.S. Census Bureau found:
· 20% of women today aged 40 to 44 have no children, double what it was 30 years ago.
· The average number of children a woman aged 40-44 will have is 1.9.
· Mothers in North Carolina, Mississippi, and the District of Columbia are least likely to marry.
· 20% of all births reported in the survey were to U.S. moms who themselves were born in another country. In California, that percentage doubled, with 41% of moms being foreign-born.
· Hispanic women average the most children (2.3).

A two-year-old dog that had been turned over to the Nevada Humane Society’s shelter in Reno has become an unlikely hero. Volunteers were taking the dog, a Boxer/Pit Bull mix named Angel, on a walk Monday when she became obsessed with something in the bushes. It turned out to be a box full of 3-week-old orange tabby kittens. One of the kittens escaped before shelter staff made it to the scene, but Angel tracked it down.

Officers in the Milwaukee suburb of Greenfield say a woman celebrated her 37th birthday by helping her 17-year-old son rob two gas stations. Mom was the getaway driver while her son robbed the stations at gunpoint. Police said the woman’s 13-month-old daughter and two boys ages 10 and 14 rode along during the robberies. They were in custody by the end of the day.

The Amish are enjoying a population explosion, doubling in size over the past 16 years. States such as Missouri, Kentucky and Minnesota have seen increases in their Amish populations of more than 130%. The Amish now number 227,000 in the United States, according to Elizabethtown College’s Young Center for Anabaptist and Pietist Studies. Over the same period, Amish settlements have been established in seven new states, putting them in at least 28 states from coast to coast. The new states are Colorado, Arkansas, West Virginia, Washington, Nebraska, Maine and Mississippi. Also
known as Anabaptists, most Amish shy away from modern conveniences and rely on horse-and buggy. They began arriving in eastern Pennsylvania around 1730.

The champion of Nathan's Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest is moving on to another food. Joey Chestnut is set to compete in the Myrtle Beach World BBQ Sandwich Eating Championship on August 30th. The 24-year-old Chestnut will reportedly defend his world record of scarfing down 45 pulled pork BBQ sandwiches in ten minutes. Competitors will stuff their faces for four-thousand dollars in cash and prizes. Chestnut won the Nathan's hot-dog eating contest the last two years in a row, taking the title from long-running champ Takeru Kobayashi.

I know how Matt is getting a little tired of hearing stuff about Michael Phelps … so here is another story :
Michael Phelps has won the hearts of Match.com members. According to a survey by the Web site, 81-percent said if they had the choice, they would pick the gold medal winning Olympic swimmer as captain of their dream team. The respondents also said that Olympic beach volleyball player Kerri Walsh is the female Olympian that they'd most like to go on a date with. Sixty-two-percent of those polled said that dedication and determination make an Olympic athlete more attractive than just their chiseled physiques.

A California man found out the hard way that a woman who owns a convenience store is not one to mess with. James Benefield is accused of bringing a shotgun into the store in Elk Grove and demanding money from Amy Anand. Employees say Anand then attacked the six-foot-five inch Benefield with a phone despite him hitting her with the gun. She managed to wrestle the weapon away from him and even broke it in the process. He ran away but not for long as police caught up to him a short time later. Anand got a black eye in the scuffle but her husband said after hearing about the incident he has no intention of ever "messing with her."
