To date, about 500 have been reclaimed.Police nabbed Kenk, the owner of a Toronto bicycle shop, after noticing a sharp spike in bike thefts in June. When Collier County, Florida sheriff's deputies arrested a 19-year-old man on trespassing charges at Wal-Mart on Monday, and then found a stolen debit card in his pants pocket, but the teen had a perfectly good excuse. They weren't his pants. The teen, Richard W. Obdyke, told deputies he found the pants in his van, and did not know who they belonged to. When asked who may have left the pants in his van, Obdyke couldn't think of anyone. So, as credible as his excuse was, deputies chose to check it out. Deputies located the owner of the debit card, Deborah Cahill, who said someone had charged 32-dollars-and-80-cents at McDonalds, 42-dollars-and-two-cents at a Shell gas station, and 85-dollars at a Seven-Eleven to her account. She said she didn't know where her debit card was, and thought she may have left it at Marsala Pizza over the weekend. Surprise, surprise, deputies determined that Obdyke was an employee of Marsala Pizza.

In Canada, the jump was even bigger – from 25% last year to 40% this year.
Operators of the Chicago area’s Metra commuter trains are reducing the number of bathrooms to make room for more seats. Metra officials said they decided to scale back on restrooms after experiencing a third consecutive year of record ridership while at the same time failing to find money in the budget to buy more trains. Officials said every other passenger car should have a bathroom after the changes are implemented. Fewer bathrooms and more seats will generate $7.5 million and save about $2 million annually in maintenance and cleaning costs.
A man who scratched off a lottery ticket and realized it was worth $3 million gave the ticket to his church. The independent Christian church will get at least $102,225 a year for the next 20 years. The amount could be higher if withheld taxes are refunded because of the church’s nonprofit status. The pastor said the church would give the first $102,000 to charity.
A disposable diaper is responsible for saving the life of an 18-month-old boy, breaking his fall from a third-floor apartment window in a Brazilian city. The boy survived the fall because his diaper got snagged on a security spike embedded in the concrete wall around his apartment building. The boy dangled from the spike for a moment before the diaper “opened and the baby fell to the ground, but at a much slower speed,” an officer said.
It was the baggy pants that led to the downfall of a suspect in Atlanta, Georgia. Police say they chased Emanuel Uzowihe on foot earlier this week outside of the Fulton County Courthouse. Those in the area who saw the incident say Uzowihe was carrying a long black gun with him and pointed it at officers after the chase. He was shot twice and wounded by an officer. However, the chase ended when Uzowihe fell down because he couldn't keep his pants up. Nobody else was hurt.
